Could a website help families at risk of being deported?
US high school student Jody Bell has created an online resource to help US-born children and teens whose immigrant parents or guardians may be at risk of deportation.
Bell came up with the idea for In Case of Deportation when she was 16 (she is now 17), after hearing the concerns of close friends who were afraid to speak to adults about their fears surrounding deportation. Targeted at children aged eight to 18, the site features sections for emotional support, legal help, lawyers, and a ‘child preparedness plan’ for children to discuss with their parents in the event of an abrupt deportation.
